Layer cake.
1. Grease wo 9-inch cake pans. Line with waxed paper; grease and flour paper; set aside.
2. Beat butter and sugar in large mixer bowl until fluffy. Beat in egs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat 2 minutes.
3. Combine flour ad baking powder. Beat into sugar mixture alternately with evaporated milk and water. Beat in chocolate chips and vanilla until well mixed. Pour into prepared cake pans.
4. Bake in preheated 350-degreeoven 35 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. (Top will be crunchy.)
5. Cool inpans 10 minutes. Invert onto racks; remove waxed paper. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon Amaretto over each layer. Cool completely. Frost with Creamy Chocolate Icing, sprinkling 2 ounces toffee over icing on each layer.
Creamy Chocolate Icing: Melt 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/3 cup butter. Beat in 3 cups powdered sugar and 1/2 cp undiluted evaporated milk until thick and creamy.
High altitude adjustments: At 6,000 feet, add 3 tablesoons flour; decrease sugar to 2 1/4 cups and baking powder to 1 1/2 teaspoons.
