Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Mix dry ingredients together. Mix into creamed mixture. Add applesauce.
Mix the sugar, nuts, and chocolate chips dry and spoon on top of the batter for frosting. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 min in a 9 by 12 ? greased pan.
