Aunt Sandy's recipe
Combine cocoa and boiling water until smooth; set aside. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well with mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with cocoa mixture, beating at low speed, beginning and ending with flour Stir in vanilla. Do not overbeat. (flour, mix, cocoa, mix, flour, mix, cocoa, mix, etc ending with flour).
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Makes 3 9-inch round pans.
