These are a huge hit in my family!

"These are delicious! I made them with regular oatmeal since I was too lazy to pulse them in the food processor, and they still turned out great. I also just used all regular brown sugar since I didn't have the golden. Will try it with the right sugars next time, although I can't imagine them tasting any better. Love the nutritional value of the walnuts and oatmeal. "


Ingredients

1 cup butter; softened
1 cup golden brown sugar; packed
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups All purpose flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
2 1/2 cups rolled quick oats; (I like McCann's Quick Cooking Oats-Trader Joe's)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips; (I like Trader Joe's semi-sweet chocolate chips)
1 cup walnuts; chopped

Preparation

Preheat oven at 375 degrees (190 C). Beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and beat well. Whisk together flour, baking soda and salt. Add slowly to creamed sugar mixture. Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts and mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool for a few minutes and transfer to wire rack.

Difficult to remove from cookie sheet. These cookies were very crumbly. After baking the first batch for 12 minutes, I reduced the time on the second batch to 10 minutes. I reduced the baking time on the 3rd batch to 9 minutes and still could have chopped off another minute. I prefer a softer cookie, so probably would not make these again.

So good! I used peanut butter and applesauce in place of butter, cut the sugar some, used some honey, and added chia seeds and pecan chips. I don't know that I'll use the honey again tho!

Best ever oatmeal cookies. I have also done these with craisins and cinnamon chips, very good; and dried apricots (diced with scissors), very wow! Substituting butter flavored shortening for butter is not quite as rich, but they are still great and a bit more firm.

I only used 1 1/3 cups total sugar since we are use to less. I also used old fashioned oats and pecans. They were wonderful. My husband requested this be our regular chocolate chip cookie.

Great recipe! I substituted the Chocolate chips for cinnamon chips and everything turned out great.
