Suggest a better descriptionCream together butter and sugar. Blend in vanilla. Sift together flour and salt and work into creamed mixture. Stir in milk and chocolate chips.
Form into 1" balls. Place an inch apart on baking sheet. With your thumb, make a depression in the center of each ball. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 min. Remove to platter. Dust with confectioners sugar, and fill thumb prints with filling.
Melt chocolate chips and shortening over hot water. Remove from heat. Stir in corn syrup, water and vanilla. Cool for 5 min. Fill thumb prints.
Doubled - 5 doz cookies. Do not double filling.
