Quaker Oats Classic Meatloaf

"This was phenomenal. I hate meatloaf usually, but I had seconds of this. My husband at half the loaf, and even my picky, almost two-year-old, loved it too, and even asked for seconds. I used ground turkey instead, only because that's what I had in my freezer. It took an hour to cook. I served it with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. My husband, who hates ground turkey, has asked me to make this a weekly staple (and continue to use the turkey!)."

1 1/2 pounds Ground beef; or turkey
3/4 cups Quaker Oats; uncooked
1/2 cups Ketchup
1 Egg; lighttly beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
2 teaspoon Garlic; minced
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Original recipe makes 6

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients in large bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Sahpe meatloaf mixture into 10x6-inch loaf on rack of broiler pan.

Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until meatloaf is to medium doneness (160 degrees F, 170 degrees F for turkey), until in center and juices show no pink color. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Cover and refrigerate leftovers promptly and use within 2 days, or wrap airtight and freeze up to 3 months.

I forgot to mention that I added garlic, onions, bell peppers and replaced the oats for plain bread crumbs. Very yummi :)

This is the way mom used to cook the loaf. A good way to stretch your dollar and eat like a king!

Made it tonight for my parents when I couldn't find Mom's recipe. YUM! I made it with ground turkey and it was fantastic! I look forward to leftovers.

Great meatloaf. We added chopped onion and mushrooms to the meat before cooking. Also added a few mushrooms and chili sauce to the top during last few minutes of cooking.

Good, the ground turkey didn't hold together as well as I would like it. It was extremely difficult to slice
