Very tasty and easy to make ahead.
Cut meat into 1 inch cubes and brown in hot oil. Add apple, carrot, onion, water, wine, garlic, bouillon cubes, bay leaf and thyme. Cover and cook over low heat for 2 hours or until beef is tender. Remove bay leaf. Combine cornstarch and cold water; add to beef mixture. Cook and stir until thickened. Stir in kitchen bouquet. Serve over noodles and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Alternatives: Serve with mashed potatoes on top. Use additional beef base to flavor stew. Add thick sliced carrots after one hour of cooking time.
