Cook the fettuccine in a large pot of lightly salted water as directed on the manufacturer's packaging. Meanwhile, warm the butter in a large casserole dish or pot over moderate heat. Add the cream and grated parmesan cheese, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened a bit. Drain the fettuccine and toss it in the sauce. Continue to fold the pasta with the sauce untiul the fetuccine is thoroughly coated. Serve warm with a sprinkling of fresh parsley and a bit more fresh pepper to taste.
