"It was very good. Made as written and felt it could use a little more. Proceeded to saute some chopped baby carrots and celery. Then a dash of mustard powder, old bay seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. Close to 5 star comfort food after that.
Also had soaked the beans in advance . Great on a frigid evening"

Ingredients

1 tb Lemon juice
1 Clove garlic; minced or
2 c Navy beans; or mixed beans
Salt & pepper; to taste
1 Bay leaf
1/2 ts Garlic powder
1 tb Honey
1 lg Onion; chopped
8 c Water; (3 c. more may be needed)
1 Ham bone; (with sm. amt. ham)

Preparation

Wash beans. Put everything in crock pot along with ham bone (that has small amount of ham still on). Start cooking at high and after it starts cooking, turn to simmer.
