2 qt Water
2 Onions; chopped
2 Carrots; peeled, sliced
Black Pepper; freshly ground
2 tb Nonfat chicken bouillion
2 c Split peas
4 sl Canadian bacon

Original recipe makes 6



Cook on high to get it hot, if you have time, then lower the heat setting to low and cook 8 hours. Dont fill the crock pot too full, due to foaming. Stir, adjust the seasonings and serve. If you like the soup creamy, take out 1/2 c. of the soup and puree in food processor, then blend back into the soup. This was horrible. Didn't Have that smooth, nice, flavor I use to have when dad use to make it.

This was a wonderful soup! Best split pea I've ever made, and so easy. Leftovers a few days later were great, too!

Used leftover ham vs. bacon. Cubed it. Should've added later rather than at start. Doubled recipe -- barely fit on large CrockPot. Added fresh Bay Leaves and a whole sprig of Rosemary, which helped! But, ended up with Rosemary spines in the soup.
