I got this one from my Dad years ago, now my grandchildren want it as the potato dish whenever they visit.


-- Potato dish --
1 large pkg Frozen hash brown potatoes
1/2 cup Butter
1/2 cup Onions; chopped
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese; shredded
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 pint Sour cream
1 10-oz can Cream of Chicken Soup; (up to 12-oz can) or mushroom or celery
-- Topping --
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese
1 cup corn flakes; Chrushed

Original recipe makes 8



Mix together all ingredients for potato dish and place in greased 9 x 13 inch oven dish.

Top with the crushed corn flakes and cheddar cheese.

Bake at 350 F. for 40 - 50 minutes.

I have made this too many times to count! My kids just love it! Adding chopped ham and mushrooms is great too! Bran flakes also work well on top if your out of corn flakes. Thanks for sharing the recipe Dad!

In Utah this dish is called " Funeral Potatoes". It is a staple at most Mormon Church "ward dinners".
