Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, and set aside. In a mixer, cream until softened the butter and vanilla. Gradually add the confectioner's sugar until fluffy. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Refrigerate for at least an hour before rolling out.
Put 1/3 the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out cookies.Repeat for remaining dough.
Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
