These are a simple flour dumpling that is boiled and served with gravy. A family favorite and Christmas Dinner tradition.
Mix ingredients with a sturdy spoon - this is a stiff dough. Bring a large pot of water with salt added to a boil. Dip a metal spoon (soup spoon size not teasppon size) into the boiling water and then scoop out a dumpling from the batter. Immediately place the dumping and spoon into the boiling water - the dumpling should fall off. Repeat until all the batter is used. Stir the dumplings off the bottom with a large spoon and let boil for 10 minutes. Remove and drain dumplings. Serve.
My son is wild about these dumplings and will use pan drippings or gravy on top of them. Sometimes he will just eat them plain too.

starlee77 2y agoEasy easy to make.. Super stiff just like "chef" said. I added mine to soup that was already on boil (cabbage, celery, onion, carrot and tomato in a beef broth) Next time I will try adding a spice to the mix that will go with the dish .

dlb913 9y agoFamily preferrs these kind of dumpling when I make "chicken and dumplings" to the more tradition ones with oil that you boil on top of food.Plus they are healthier !!
