Ready in 8 hours
A one pot meal that takes only a few minutes to prepare and is ready when you get home from work.
Peel the carrots and potatoes, quarter the potatoes and cut the carrots into pieces about 1.5 inches long.
Place the roast in the crockpot and add the potatoes, onion, carrots and boulion. Sprinkle on the salt and pour in the water.
If roast is not frozen poke holes in it with a knife and push the garlic cloves into the holes. If frozen place the garlic below the surface of the water so the flavour works through the meat and vegetables.
Place crockpot on a surface that will not burn ie. stove top. (Don't ask how I know to do this)
Cook on high for 7 - 8 hours. (Mine needs to be on high yours may only need medium; each crocpot is different.)
If there is enough liquid left after cooking make gravy with it.
I started with a frozen roast hence the higher and longer cooking times.
tmmwcc3 2y agoAwesome! Used beef broth instead of water with one packet of Lipton onion soup mix. Also seared meat in garlic butter before cooking in crock pot. delicious!
Fionag 2y agoGood recipe. For food safety reasons, be careful with frozen food in the slow cooker. Be sure the roast is thoroughly thawed before cooking time commences.

1Chefarmiller 4y agoI used a 3lb top sirloin roast. It was very tender and the family loved it. The juices made a excellent gravy!

beemama 4y agoThe only thing I will do differently next time will be to get a good sear on the meat so it doesn't lose so much juice in the cooking process. I loved the garlic stuffed inside though. Roasted garlic is in my top 5 favorite flavors so that was really great!

unruhmissions 4y agoThis had become a family favourite. I usually add some extra vegetables if I have some in my fridge to use up. Our family doesn't like the texture of onion so I use onion powder instead of the onion chunks as we do like the flavour it gives.
