The way my family always cooked it. It's very cheap and so easy to make.
Boil the macaroni in a large pot. Add Salt.
Fry the hamburger meat and chopped onions until meat is done and onions are sauteed
Pour the water and tomatoes into the meat and onions. Mix well and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Add a tsp. of garlic salt and a dash of black pepper.
Drain the noodles but leave a very small amount of water (2/3 cup).
Pour the meat and tomato mixture into the pot with the noodles and mix well.
