This is a super easy pot roast recipe that can be made in your crock pot. I've made with both beef and pork, and each one is equally delicious - its really just whatever is your preference!

1 packet Good Seasons zesty italian dressing
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dressing
1 packet onion gravy
1 packet au jus gravy; (optional but my family prefers it)
1 onion
1 garlic

You've adjusted the recipe from 4 (as originally posted) to 4 Servings. The ingredients above reflect 4 Servings, but the instructions reflect the as-posted 4. You may need to adjust the times, temperatures or quantities mentioned in the recipe below as needed.

Mix together packets of dressing and gravy, then coat roast on all sides. Place in crock pot, and add 1/2 to 3/4 cup water. I will also usually add some fresh minced garlic cloves (3 or so) and one small onion that I've chopped up at this time. Turn crock pot to low temperature. About four hours later, I add potatoes and carrots. I'll also eyeball the roast at this time, and will sometimes add another packet of onion gravy or au jus gravy and another 1/2 cup of water. Let roast and vegetables cook another 3 1/2 to 4 hours, until potatoes are tender and roast is 150-160 degrees. Remove vegetables and roast from crock pot, pour juice in crock pot into sauce pan. I make a thickening agent of cornstarch and water to add to the juice. Bring to a boil until it thickens, stirring constantly.

This pot roast is delicious!! My husband loved it. Definitely a great recipe. Can be followed step by step & come out perfect . In my opinion only thing that would've made it better was some type of spice. But no complaining. Excellent taste!!

Flavor was great but even with following all suggestions in the recipe mine was very dry.

Finally, a pot roast that tasted like a pot roast, not beef stew! If you like a flavorful, tender perfect pot roast try this recipe ! I made changes to cook time because I had a larger roast and I was too impatient and I wanted a faster cook time. Also, I did add shallots and fresh garlic. I let it cook much longer and for my impatient self I would rec to start on high, then add veggies another 3/4 cup of water with brown gravy package and keep it on high. Cook until roastmeat is shred tender. Au jus, brown gravy, regular italian dressing and hidden valley ranch dressing packets all used as well as chopped shallots and 2 minced garlic cloves.

Tried this recipe a few months ago and everyone loved it. Super easy and great taste. Kids and hubby ask for it regularly!!!

I did just about everything the recipe called for and I did add the au jus packet! I added mushrooms cause I love them but it was good and I had it over pasta with the meat, veggies and the gravy it made! I will use this recipe again!

This was the best damn pot roast my husband and I have ever had!! Excellent!! Awesome!! Couldn't believe it tasted better the next day for lunch!! This is a MOST HAVE ONCE A MONTH MEAL!!
