Easy, simple, and full of flavor. Just like Oma used to make =)

"This dish was pretty tasty! I altered it a bit. I seasoned the chicken with sazon and adobo before cooking it. Also, I didn't have any chicken parts so I used boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 1" pieces. I added a pinch of red pepper flakes to give it a little kick. Very tastey!"


2 pounds Chicken pieces
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 13-oz can Chicken Broth
1 16-oz can Tomatoes; diced
1/2 cup Onions; chopped
2 cloves Garlic; crushed
1 teaspoon Salt; (up to 1 1/2 tsp if desired)
1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
1/2 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Crushed Red Pepper; to taste (if desired); I use 1/4 tsp.
1 Bay Leaf
10 ounces Frozen Peas
1 cup Long-Grain Rice

In a skillet, brown chicken in oil; pour off fat. Add broth, tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, turmeric, pepper, crushed red pepper (if desired) and bay leaf.

Cover; cook over a low heat 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients.

Cover; cook 30 minutes more or until chicken and rice are tender; stir occasionally.

Remove bay leaf & serve.


I keep a number of hot sauces on hand and sprinkle on to the plated dish liberally at tableside. My favorite on this dish is a fantastic sauce from Costa Rica called "Lizano Sauce". Choose your own hot sauce and make this dish your own!

Easy and perfect recipe to use I only added hominy and marinated chocked for 30 min in lemon juice , soul salt and paprika with coconut water & it was beautiful.

This dish was absolutely delicious! The whole family enjoyed it. The only thing I did differently was doubled the amount of ingredients bc I have a large family and used one can of regular diced tomatoes and one can of zesty jalapeño diced tomatoes. Perfect little zip!

Oh yeah! And I added crushed red pepper and chices mixed in a blender with a bit of water for a little kick.

Very good! I substituted one can of Ro-Tel tomatoes and I left out the peas because I didn't have any in the house. Can't wait to make it again!
