Homemade is the best way to go! As a young wife, I found this recipe in the Custer County Home Extension Council 1989 Cookbook. This cookbook was given to me at one of my bridal showers.

"I love this recipe. Tortillas are so easy to make so I don't know why I buy them. "

2 cups Flour
2 1/2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
3/4 cup Water; lukewarm
1 tablespoon Shortening

Original recipe makes 8 Servings

Stir all ingredients together except shortening. Knead in shortening. Divide dough into 8 parts and roll thin on a floured board. Fry on a hot dry skillet 15-20 seconds on each side.

For wheat tortillas change flour to 1 cup white flour and 1 cup wheat pastry flour.
