Ingredients

4 large Onions; sliced
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
3 tablespoon Butter
6 cups Beef broth
1 teaspoon Salt
6 slices French bread; toasted
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese; grated
1/3 cup Swiss Cheese; (or Gruyere) grated

Preparation

Saute onions in butter for 15 min. Stir in broth, salt & pepper. Brink to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 min. Pour into bowls, place bread on top and sprinkle cheese on top. Heat for 10 min. in 425 degree (F) oven, then place under broiler until top is bubbly and lightly browned.
