"I find it completely odd, if you go to any local restaurant in Erie PA, their version of 'french toast' is simply to a very light coating of egg only bread and fry it. It drives me up the wall. I rather have scrabbled eggs on toast, please."- MetricCook
1.Combine and beat together egg, sugar, milk, salt, desired spices, and vanilla.
2. Heat a lightly buttered griddle or skillet over medium-high.
3. Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides.
4. Place in skillet or griddle and cook on both sides until golden.
Serve hot with:
Pure Maple Syrup
or Powdered Sugar
or Favorite Jam

cmorris25 6 months agoThis recipe is really good.. The nutmeg was a little over powering, next time I will use less, other than that, this is a really good recipe.

LavenderWand 1 year agoThis is my favorite french toast recipe ....minus nutmeg with a little extra brown sugar. Made both regular-sliced white bread and raisin bread. Enjoyed by everyone.
