This was juicy and flavorful. Garlic is good to bring down colesterol and for reduction in acid reflux. Load up the garlic!

I think that the next time I make this, I will go heavier on the spices. Possibly add some thick onion slices on the sides for more flavor."


Ingredients

Are you making this? 
5 pound roasting chicken
salt
pepper
paprika
5 cloves garlic
1/4 pound sweet butter
1/2 cup chicken broth

Servings  

Preparation

Sprinkle the chicken, inside and out, with salt, pepper and paprika.

Spread half of the garlic in the cavity and spread the rest on the

outside of the bird.

Place the bird in the crockpot and place a few pats of butter on its

breast. Add the remaining ingredients and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.

Serve the hot garlic butter sauce with the chicken.

I loved that I can pick up chicken at .29 a lb and feed a family of 6 with this delicious recipe for less than $5.

On another addition, I now make this every other week. I now add thick chopped onions A small bundle of fresh cut Rosemary stuffed inside Along with whole white mushrooms inside the cavity and around the chicken. Serve over rice, my teenage stepdaughter will drink the sauce

This was one of the best crock pot dishes I have ever made. I added garlic and onions with butter under the skin. I added a lot of Italian herbs and onions in the crock pot and cooked it on low for 6 hours. So good!

I also added onions, both inside the cavity and out. The chicken was soo moist & tender. My 8 year old raved a few times during dinner.
