These asparagus rolls are sophisticated enough for a drinks party, but they are just as popular with children.
Blanch the asparagus in boiling salted water for 2 to 3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and refresh under cold running water, then drain again and pat dry.

Pan-fry the asparagus rolls in a hot pan with a little olive oil, turning frequently, for 2 to 3 minutes until the ham is crisp. Find over a little pepper and serve.
