1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 egg yolks (reserve the whites)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
Cream sugar & butter. Add egg yolks. Add dry ingredients at one time. Spread into greased 9 x 13" pan.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Add:
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 t. vanilla
Spread over batter in pan. Bake 40 - 45 min. at 325. When cool, cut into squares.
