Ingredients

1/2 tasse (125 g) beurre salé tempéré
3/4 tasse (180 ml) sucre
2 oeufs battus
1/2 bouchon extrait de vanille pure
4 bananes bien mûres; écrasées grossièrement
4 carrés de chocolat mi-sucré; hachés grossièrement (environ 120 g)
une pincée de sel
1 c. à thé (5 ml) poudre à pâte
1 c. à thé (5 ml) bicarbonate de soude

Preparation

- Préchauffez le four à 325 °F.

- Chemisez un moule à pain de papier parchemin et beurrez-le.

- Dans un saladier, mélangez le beurre, le sucre, les oeufs et la vanille quelques minutes.

- Ajoutez les bananes et le chocolat, puis, mélangez délicatement.

- Dans un autre saladier, mélangez la farine, le sel, la poudre à pâte et le bicarbonate de soude.

- Ajoutez les ingrédients humides aux ingrédients secs et mélangez un peu, sans plus.

- Versez dans le moule et enfournez.

- Le gâteau prendra environ 1 heure à cuire.

Gâteau aux bananes et chocolat de Johanne roughly translates to Banana and Chocolate of Johanne Cake...but here in the USA we don't consider this a cake, we think of it as a quick bread. We really enjoyed this recipe. We followed it with no substitutions and the results were wonderful! Whoever, we did baked it until a skewer came out clean which took just a bit longer than the suggested 1 hour. The chunks of chocolate were the perfect complement to the rich banana taste of this quick bread. The recipe calls for semisweet chocolate that is coarsely chopped but I suggest leaving some bigger chunks in there so that you encounter a super satisfying melted chocolate explosion every now and then. We served it slightly warm, when the chocolate was still nice and gooey, in a thick slice with lots of butter. Yum!
