Helen’s Hamburger Curry
Pour 1 T oil in pot. Heat. Sprinkle mustard and cumin seeds to cover ½ the bottom of pot. Heat until mustard seeds begin to pop, then remove from heat. (Mustard seeds burn very quickly).
Add:
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2-4 medium potatoes, diced small
Saute a few minutes to soften onion and potatoes. (May add a little water, cover pot and cook till potatoes are almost cooked -may take 15 minutes or more, depending on size of cubes)
Add:
1 lb hamburger
1 can chick peas, drained
1/3 bottle of Patak’s curry paste
A little water
Simmer until potatoes are cooked through.
Check seasoning. You may need salt.
