Fragrant and tasty alternative to plain pizza dough
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees
Begin by adding the flour to a large mixing bowl. (I have given guideline measures as I don't normally use cups)
Add a good sprinkle of dried herbs. (I use prepared jar herbs which include Basil, Marjoram, Sage, Thyme, Orgeano and Rosemary)
Add some lukewarm water little by litte while stirring with a wooden spoon. If the dough gets too sticky add little bits of flour until the dough is dry enough that it doesn't stick to the bowl.
At this stage, I ditch the wooden spoon and use my hand to gather all the stray bits together and make sure the herbs are mixed through.
Sprinkle flour on a clean flat surface.
Tip out the ball of dough and with a rolling pin (also sprinkled with flour) to roll it out.
Place rolled dough onto some grease proof paper and it's ready for 10/15 minutes of blind baking.
Preparing this dough takes about 10 minutes and I blind bake for 10/15 minutes also.
This dough usually rolls out pretty thin which is how I like my pizza.
I find blind baking works better as it gives me time to gather the toppings and makes sure that the dough is fully cooked :-) I hope you enjoy!
