Cut the butter into small pieces and add to milk mixture, stir until butter has melted. Stir in flours, salt and baking powder. Fold in the nuts. Pour into a well-buttered and floured loaf pan or several small loaf pans (fill a little over half full). Bake in a preheated 325F oven, 1 hour 20 minutes for large loaf and about 45 minutes for the smaller ones, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes before removing from pan.
