From the cook book of Barbara Perry / Sister Kemp in Boston
Soften yeast in warm water. Add 1 teaspoon sugar. Scald milk and add salt, honey, and shortening. Add 1/2 of the flour to yeast mixture.
When milk is lukewarm, stir in yeast and remaining flour. Mix well and knead until smooth and easily handled.
Let rise in greased bowl placed over a pan of hot water in cold oven about 1 1/2 hours until doubles in size. Shape into loves. Let rise. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.
