Individual serving size apple pies. Made in 5" tart dishes.
Pie crust preparation:
1. Mix the first 5 ingredients (flour, shortening, sugar, salt and cinnamon), together with a fork until pea size crumbs.
2. Add ice water 1 teaspoon at a time until dough comes together.
3. Refrigerate dough while making apple mixture.
Apple mixture:
1. Peel and core apples.
2. Thinly slice the apples. (About 1/8")
3. Mix the next set of ingredients, of apples, sugar, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Roll out crust dough and mold into tart pans.
3. Fill tart pans with apple mixture.
4. Roll out crust for the top and cut using a tart pan like a cookie cutter. Then cut into 1/2" strips. Lace dough strips on top of pie.
5. Bake for 35-45 mins.
Brush crust with egg wash or milk for a browner crust.
