Prepare cake mix as directed on the box. Pour the batter into 9 x 13 x 2 inch greased baking dish. Set this aside.
Combine ricotta cheese,sugar,vanilla and eggs. Blend well. Spread the mixture evenly on top of the cake mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes to 60 minutes.
Blend Pudding mix and milk until thickened then fold in the whipped cream. Spread over cooled cake.

bricaleyThis cake was so good!! I usually like sweet cakes, but this is my new favorite. Everyone loved it! Instead of putting the cool whip on it I put in in a separate bowl so whoever had a slice could put as much as they want on it. Will make again! But my ricotta did not go to the bottom, it was a marbled cake.2y ago

AuntieVwocaI did something wrong because my ricotta did no it go to the bottom. It looked marbled and I could see where in some places it went down a bit so I flipped it and served it upside down so it looked like yours. I wonder where I went wrong? It still tasted very good and I will attempt again.3y ago

Love7721made this last night. It was very good. It is not that sweet at all. Not very rich as you would think. If it didn't have the pudding mixture on top, I think it wouldnt be as good. I will definitely make this again. Pretty cool watching the chocolate envelope the ricotta cheese mixture while backing. I'm assuming that you would have to refrigerate the cake after cooling? They way I served it was not to ice the cake with the pudding mixture after cooling, I just put a dollop on top of each pieced served.5y ago
