We can't remember where we got this recipe but it is delicious! Sure, it may require an angioplasty afterwards, but it is worth it!

"A really nice change of pace for a traditional Italian style pasta dish. I've made this dish three times so far. The first two times, exactly as posted...the third time, I couldn't leave well enough alone--I added about a cup of Fontina cheese to the white sauce and served the dish sprinkled with freshly grated Asiago and a few grinds of crushed red pepper. Both versions are excellent."

Ingredients

Are you making this?
5 ea Italian sausage
1 ea Yellow onion
1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
Salt to taste
2 teaspoons Parsley
1 pinch Cayenne
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
2 teaspoons Butter
2 teaspoons Flour
2 cups milk
12 ounces fettuccine

Original recipe makes 6

Preparation

Make a white sauce with the 2 Tbsp butter, flour and milk. Set aside.

In a frying pan, squeeze the meat out of the sausage casings and fry. Add onion and continue cooking until onions are translucent and sausage meat is cooked all the way through. Add the garlic powder, parsley, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper to the sausage mixture. Mix thoroughly.

Boil water and cook fettucine according to directions. Add white sauce to meat mixture and simmer while fettucine is cooking.

Drain and rinse fettucine. Ladle the meat and sauce mixture over the hot fettucine.

Grove tips: Use less yellow onion and add some red onion

I just cooked this. Based on the reviews I added another 2 tsp of flour to the sauce! It came out perfect! I also added some Parmesan cheese and Italian cheese at the end and mixed up. Gave the sauce some cheesiness my hubby and son loved.

I made a couple of tweaks to the recipe according to what the reviews stated and because I am gluten free. I used half milk and half heavy cream and I started off sautéing the onion & some carrots and then added 1 & 1/2 tbsp of GF flour. Result: the hubby loved it! That always scores A+ in my book. Thanks!

Measurememts on the ingredients list were messed up. It was ok but i'm going to have to change the sauce next time. Following the measurements given in the ingedients, the sauce was way too runny

Wow! I made almost this exact recipe a week ago from scratch! First I put the water to boil for the fettucine. Then I cooked the sausage with parsley, cayenne, seasoned salt, garlic powder, Italian seasonig and pepper. Then I made the sauce but added Parmesan to it! It was delicious!

Quick to make and tasty. I didn't have parsley so I substituted some Basil, and it turned out nicely.
