Cream together shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix together and add flour, salt, baking soda, and oatmeal. Roll into walnut-sized balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes, according to crispiness desired.
