The chili recipe that my family asks for again and again. This makes a large batch of chili that you can serve to a crowd or freeze for later. Be sure to use a dutch over or 5 0r 6 litre crock pot.
Brown meat and drain off any fat. Add onion and saute until clear. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Let simmer on stove top for 30 minutes or put ingredients in crock pot and simmer on low for 8 hours.
Season to taste by adding garlic, hot sauce, hot peppers etc.
I prefer to make this without packaged taco mix and just use spices without adding salt. We like to serve our chili with the following condiments: diced green onion, diced green pepper, shredded tex-mex cheese, sour cream and taco chips
