Tastes like the soup at the Olive Garden - yummy!
Crumble and brown the Italian sausage in a skillet (if it is in casings, remove from casings); drain off grease.
Combine sausage with all remaining ingredients except milk in a soup pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer at least 30 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Add milk the last five minutes, just long enough to heat through.
Notes: Original recipe called for heavy cream instead of milk. This is pretty spicy, so adjust the cayenne down if you prefer. Kale is a curly, leafy green vegetable sold near the cabbage and broccoli. Be sure to wash thoroughly and remove stems. If you can't find kale, you could probably use collard or mustard greens.
