Try topping with French Fried Onion Rings, Hawaiian BBQ sauce, and Jack cheese in addition to the pineapple and cheddar. Mmmm!
Mix the sauce with the beef; form into 3/4 inch-thick patties. If using lean beef and it appears dry, add a bit of oil as well. Shape into patties. (If cooking immediately, you can circle the patties with bacon.)
Cook 3-5 minutes per side depending on the heat of your gril, your preference, l and the thickness of your burgers. The internal temperature should be at least 160? for safety.
Grill the pineapple slices while the meat is cooking.
Mayonnaise is particularly tasty with this combo!
To account for shrinkage during cooking, especially when using 80% beef, make the patties at least 1/2-inch larger in diameter than the buns you'll be putting them on. I usually make about 4 pounds of these burgers at once, and freeze them for instant meals later on. We always have fresh pineapple on hand, but you can use canned.
