Ingredients

1/2 ts Caraway seeds
1 lg Onion; diced
1 lb Kielbasa sausage; sliced
1 c Dry white wine
1 16-oz can Sauerkraut
2 Bay Leaves
6 Peppercorns

Original recipe makes 1

Servings  

Preparation

Combine onion, sauerkraut, wine, bay leaves, caraway seeds and peppercorns in heavy large saucepan. Cover and simmer mixture 30 minutes. Add sausage and simmer 20 minutes. Discard bay leaves and serve. Serves 4. Bon Appetit October 1992

An old standby. And lots of ways to vary. Riesling works, but if you want a dryer version can use Chardonnay or Pinot grigio. Also dice up an apple and add couple whole all spice. Ca

Such flavor! I thought the combination of sauerkraut with the wine would be over-powering but it ended up having a lovely sweet flavor. I served it over brown rice and my fussy husband, who doesn't like kielbasa, loved it.

I doubled the recipe, except for the onion, which I'd probably double next time. I also omitted the carraway seeds. No surprises: tasty.
