Suggest a better descriptionIn a large skillet, brown the italian sausage. Keeping the grease in the skillet, add the chopped green pepper, garlic and onion to the browned sausage. Cook until tender. Pour in the jar of spaghetti sauce, the 2 cups of water and the sugar. Mix and heat thru on medium heat for about 5 min. Using a splatter proof vented cover helps your stovetop stay cleaner!
Break the uncooked lasagna noodles into 2-3 inch pieces. You should have about 3 pieces per single noodle. Tuck each piece into sauce at different places and make sure the pieces are totally covered by the sauce. Heat to simmer and turn to low. Simmer for 25 minutes. During the last 5 minutes, add dolips of cream cheese on top and sprinkle the basil over top.
Remove from heat and let sit 5 min before serving.
