Just biscuits, nothing fancy. Easy to make, easier to eat. Freeze your leftovers and put them in your pie hole some other time.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Sift flour and measure. Then sift again with salt, soda, and baking powder. Cut in the shortening. Pour in buttermilk and mix just till blended. (Some people knead biscuits. If you do this, you will have a more bready product.) Roll out dough and cut using a glass or cookie cutter. Put biscuits on a greased cookie sheet and bake for about ten minutes.
