A quick and delicious homemade spaghetti sauce recipe from my mother. Also great for lasagna!
Chop the onion and garlic and saute in olive oil in a 6 quart pot or Dutch oven. Add the hamburg, sausage, salt and pepper, cooking until browned. Finally, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, red pepper and bay leaf. Simmer for at least a half hour, or up to two hours for a thicker sauce.
