Microwave Hamburger and Potatoes Au Gratin

You would never guess this is a microwave dish. Very tasty!!


1 lb. ground chuck
1 tsp. beef bouillon granules; divided
1/4 tsp. black pepper; divided
8 oz. Velveeta cheese; sliced
4 medium potatoes; thinly sliced
2 medium onions; thinly sliced
1/2 cup Water

Original recipe makes 4



Pat beef evenly into botton of a 2 quart microwavable dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. of the bouillon granules and 1/8 tsp. pepper. Cover with vented heavy-duty plastic wrap. Microwave on HIGH 4-7 minutes, or until no pink remains; drain off all fat.

Place cheese slices over hot meat, then layer with sliced potatoes and onions. Pour water over top, then sprinkle with the remaining bouillon and pepper. Sprinkle top generously with paprika and re-cover with plastic wrap. Microwave on high 19 to 23 minutes, or until potatoes in center of casserole are tender. Cut into squares and serve.


Note: It is not necessary to peel the potatoes.
