Cake
1. Beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add egg yolks and almond extract. Beat well.
3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
5. Fold egg whites into yolk mixture
6. Fold flour into egg mixture.
7. Pour batter into 2 greased and paperlined 9 inch round cake pans.
8. Bake 300 convection 350 regular oven 35-40 minutes.
Frosting
1. Combine sugar, egg whites, and corn syrup in top of double boiler.
2. Add water and cream of tartar.
3. Beat with hand mixer 30 seconds.
4. Place over boiling water. Beat on high speed for 7 minutes.
5. Remove from heat.
6. Add remaining ingredients and immediately frost cake.
