I heat 1 c of milk separately mixing the flour in until it's smooth. Then, I pour the paste into a pot with the rest of the ingredients and cook on medium stirring constantly until slightly thickened. It will take 12-maybe 20 min depending on stove.
Mix all ingredients and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until slightly thickened--takes a long, long time, don't get impatient. Layer wafers, bananas, and custard.
*I usually use 1 to 1 1/4 c sugar, not 1 3/4 cups.
*5 T flour=1/4 c +1 T
16 oz Cool Whip
8 oz cream cheese
1 can sweetened condensed milk
