Ready in 45 minutes
beginning with my mom-mom, this is the way my family has always made iced tea. it is always hard to keep in the fridge it goes so fast. i no longer enjoy a beverage this sweet, but that does not stop my kids from loving it. If you don't have much of a sweet tooth like me cut back on some of the sugar. It's also often claimed as a hangover cure - you'll have to be the judge of that yourself... :o)
Boil 1 quart of water in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add the 5 tea bags. Steep for 10 minutes. While tea steeps place lemon juice in a 2 liter pitcher. Fill pitcher halfway with ice. After tea is done steeping, remove tea bags and add sugar to the saucepan. Stir until dissolved. Pour the contents of the saucepan over the ice in the pitcher and fill the rest of the pitcher with water. Stir well and refrigerate until cool. Garnish with your favorite in-season fruit and enjoy!
corinnepullen 3y agoI made Sweet Iced Tea today as it was a really hot day. I replaced the water added last with soda water and it tasted amazing. I also used English Breakfast Tea and lemons from my "Bush Lemon " tree. It tasted just like the fizzy bottled ones you can purchase. My family loved it.
