This is the stew that I grew up on. It is GREAT comfort Food.
1.Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper and coat meat.
2.Brown meat with shortening
3.Add water and heat to boiling.
4.Add bay leaf and beef bouillon cubes
5.Add potatoes, carrots, celery and onion
6.Reduce heat to low and cook for 2 hours
7.Thicken with flour and cold water
