You have to have a sweet tooth for Pecan Pie and my husband is an expert. Since I first made this about 10 years ago it's the only one he will eat ... everything else is a letdown. Really easy to put together and always a hit!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Remove 8 whole pecan pieces and set aside.
Pulse remaining pecans in food processor until chopped. Remove from processor bowl and line pie shell with the pecans, spreading around the bottom and pushing them up the sides as much as possible.
Don't even bother cleaning out the food processor bowl, combine the sugar, corn syrup, flour vanilla and salt and process until blended. Add the eggs through the spout one at a time blending after each addition.
Pour into pie shell, don't worry about disturbing the chopped pecans. Lay one pecan on top of pie about where each of the 8 slices will be.
Chop butter into small pieces and dot top of pie with them.
Bake at 350 until firm, about 1 hour.
Remove from oven and let cool.
