Oven baked "fried" chicken
Heat oven to 375°F. Prepare baking sheet with foil sprayed with Pam.
1. Rinse chicken with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
2. Mix crushed stuffing, ground flax seed, wheat germ and black pepper in shallow dish, set aside.
3. Place gravy mix in large ziploc bag. Add several chicken pieces: shake to coat -- can't put one piece in at a time or you will run out of gravy mix and first pieces will have too much coating.
4. In shallow dish, beat with fork egg and water. Coat chicken pieces individually in egg mixture and dredge in stuffing crumbs.
5. Place on baking sheet.
6. Bake @ 375°F 35-50 mins. or until done, turning once. (Perdue split brsts take 25 mins. per side)
CAN SUBSTITUTE split boneless skinless ckn breasts and gravy packet will coat 4-6 pieces. I use Perdue that come 2 pieces per packet from BJ's.
CAN SUBSTITUTE Good Seasons Italian seasoning pkt & Plain bread crumbs for the crushed herbed stuffing, OR if reducing salt -- Italian Herbs mix, McCormick makes a good one with grinder attached in spices section of grocery store.
Optional parma cheese just makes it more tasty!
