Ready in 30 minutes
I've tried many recipes; this is the best. You can 'dec-tuple' (10x) this recipe for big events, large parties, etc.. Freezes well, goes up to the lake or camping well and is a hit on Halloween...it's no-fail. Easy to double, triple, etc.
In a large skillet, brown ground beef, celery and onion.
Drain the fat, who needs it?
Stir in remaining ingredients, simmer covered, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
If Joes appear too 'loose', leave cover off and let moisture evaporate.
Cook until it's the consistency you like for serving on toasted buns, with french fries and cole slaw.
"Pizza Joes" variation:
Once I didn't have tomato sauce, so subbed an 8-oz. can of pizza sauce and served them up with shredded mozzarella cheese on the toasted buns, top and bottom. I also left out the BBQ sauce in this preparation and just used a 1/2 cup ketchup. Pizza Joes are good to go!

Nahoom1 2y agoVery good meal. I added shredded sautéed carrots. My kids said it was just okay but it was their first time having sloppy joes so I think given a few more tries they will like it.
Deb93535 3y agoLet me start by saying I'm not good at following recipes to the tee. But I used all the ingredients and added some cayenne and chipotle... Great recipe for jumping off!!
Aimeelady 3y agoThese were simple to throw together and just awesome tasting, I used hickory smoked BBQ sauce and it was a big hit. Didnt' have to go out and buy anything either. Keeping in favorites.

Siselyfynn 3y agoThese were pretty good. I think what type of BBQ sauce you use really makes the difference. If you prefer the sweeter kind of sloppy joes then use a sweet sauce. I don't think ours had the depth of flavor the sweet sauce can add.
