Nut Roll

Ready in 45 minutes

This is a recipe that is used for holidays.


6 cups Flour; Sifted
1 tsp salt
5 tbls sugar
2 small cakes yeast
1 cup water; warm
1/2 lb butter
3 Eggs; slightly beaten
1 cup Sour cream
1 lb walnut meats; finely ground
1 cup sugar

Original recipe makes 24 Servings



Sift flour into large bow and add sugar and salt and butter. Crumble as for pie dough. Dissolve yeast in warm milk and add to flour mixture with beaten eggs and sour cream. Knead well and remove dough to floured board. Divide into 4 equal parts. Roll dough into rectangles as for jelly roll and fill with nut mixture. Roll and place on greased baking sheets. Let raise for 1 hour. Brush with mixture of 1 egg and 1 tbls water. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes.

A mixture of 1 pound of finely ground walmut meats and 1 cup of sugar will fill 2 nut rolls.
