Old Fashion Dutch Pig in the Blankets

Right from my Mothers kitchen, to yours. Flacky crust, pork sausage filling. Yum!


1lb Purnell's Old Folks Country Sausage roll
4 pieces Dutch Rusk
1 Egg
1 sheet Puff Pastry Dough (sheets)

Original recipe makes 9 Servings



Add Sausage to a medium size bowl (raw)

Add 1 egg

Take 4 pieces of Round Dutch Rusk and use rolling pin to make a fine crumb

Mix all ingrediants together in the bowl with your hands to make a large ball

Take 1 sheet of the puff pastry and lay on floured counter top.

Take rolling pin and stretch dough out (about 2" more than the existing sheet all the way around)

Take Pizza cutter and cut dough to make 9 smaller squares (like tic tac toe)

Takke sausage on roll into nine individual (hot dog like) rolls and roll up each one into one of the Puff pastry squares and place on a baking sheet.

Bake at 400 for 10 minutes, turn oven down to 350 and bake approximatly 20 minutes or until outer crusts are "puffy" and just starting to turn a golden brown.

Serve with ketchup.


Watch carefully so the do not burn.
