"A classic American comfort food. I love mac and cheese and this was a very good recipe. It was fairly quick and easy to prepare and very satisfying to eat! The only change I made was to use Panko bread crumbs for the topping as they are larger and stay crispier than regular bread crumbs. The Panko crumbs made a crunchy topping that provided a delightful contrast to the cheesy noodles. I believe that the number of servings stated in the recipe are off. This is a huge recipe and even after halving it, I still had more than enough to feed 4."

Ingredients

2 tb Butter or Margarine; Melted
4 tb Flour
8 ds Tabasco sauce
3 1/3 c elbow macaroni
3 1/2 c milk
TOPPING
1/4 ts Paprika
5 c Sharp cheddar cheese; grated
3/4 ts Dry mustard
1/2 c Dry bread crumbs
1/2 ts White pepper
4 tb Butter; or margarine
1 ts Salt

Preparation

Cook macaroni as directed on package. Pour cooked macaroni into 3 qt. baking dish. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat; blend in flour, salt, pepper and mustard.

Add milk and Tabasco, cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until sauce is thick and smooth. Remove sauce from heat; stir in cheese until melted. Combine sauce with cooked macaroni. Mix together melted butter, crumbs and paprika. Sprinkle crumbs over macaroni.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes.

Not very good. Really runny and the bread crumb topping was flavorless and was not a good addition. My kids live for Mac an cheese and they didn't even like it.

It was a greasy mess. The directions at the end seemed to be written by a child.

This is so good. I like to add a little sour cream and a mix blend of cheeses for extra creaminess. Definitely top with panko bread crumbs for a nice crunch! Kids love it!

So so so good. Everyone who dug in couldn't get enough, although you have to be careful its really rich.

This was a great recipe. Really rich, creamy and tasty. In addition to the recommended topping I also tossed bacon bits over it (not simulated) it made it extra special. I think the serving size is actually more for 6-8 people. I will definitely make this again.
