"A classic American comfort food. I love mac and cheese and this was a very good recipe. It was fairly quick and easy to prepare and very satisfying to eat! The only change I made was to use Panko bread crumbs for the topping as they are larger and stay crispier than regular bread crumbs. The Panko crumbs made a crunchy topping that provided a delightful contrast to the cheesy noodles. I believe that the number of servings stated in the recipe are off. This is a huge recipe and even after halving it, I still had more than enough to feed 4."

2 tb Butter or Margarine; Melted
4 tb Flour
8 ds Tabasco sauce
3 1/3 c elbow macaroni
3 1/2 c milk
1/4 ts Paprika
5 c Sharp cheddar cheese; grated
3/4 ts Dry mustard
1/2 c Dry bread crumbs
1/2 ts White pepper
4 tb Butter; or margarine
1 ts Salt

Original recipe makes 4



Cook macaroni as directed on package. Pour cooked macaroni into 3 qt. baking dish. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat; blend in flour, salt, pepper and mustard.

Add milk and Tabasco, cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until sauce is thick and smooth. Remove sauce from heat; stir in cheese until melted. Combine sauce with cooked macaroni. Mix together melted butter, crumbs and paprika. Sprinkle crumbs over macaroni.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes.

I haven't cooked it, but I can tell that this recipe needs revision. The ingredients for the cheese sauce are mixed in with the ingredients for the bread crumb topping. The amount of butter which should be used in each part should also be clarified. This website kinda sucks. Submitted this review without rating the recipe. Got sent to an error page that didn't give me the option to correct that. When I went back to the recipe page, the 'Add my Review' button was disabled.

Not very good. Really runny and the bread crumb topping was flavorless and was not a good addition. My kids live for Mac an cheese and they didn't even like it.

This is so good. I like to add a little sour cream and a mix blend of cheeses for extra creaminess. Definitely top with panko bread crumbs for a nice crunch! Kids love it!

So so so good. Everyone who dug in couldn't get enough, although you have to be careful its really rich.

This was a great recipe. Really rich, creamy and tasty. In addition to the recommended topping I also tossed bacon bits over it (not simulated) it made it extra special. I think the serving size is actually more for 6-8 people. I will definitely make this again.
